Priyanka Vadra will be the leading campaigner along with Rahul Gandhi for the state polls. She will focus on tribal and backward areas, as well as constituencies that are considered weak spots for Congress.

Nothing is as successful as success. And when it comes after a while, it makes it even better. Buoyed by its victory in Karnataka, the Congress has now decided to replicate the southern state’s victory formula in the upcoming state elections, especially in Madhya Pradesh, where the party reckons it can win big.

In a meeting held by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, the party worked on a strategy for the state centered on women, youth and Priyanka Vadra. Another round of meetings will be held on the 26th of this month to refine the plan.

The focus on Priyanka Vadra seems well planned. In both Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka, she held more than 15 rallies and roadshows. Since the women’s card is working for most parties, including the BJP, Congress has decided that giving money directly to women’s accounts, the allowance or free gas cylinders could be a winning formula.

Therefore, Priyanka Vadra has been planned to be the main activist along with Rahul Gandhi for this state election. In fact, right after the Raipur shoot, Priyanka Vadra returned to the state as part of this strategy to get her involved. It will focus on tribal and backward areas, as well as constituencies that are seen as weak spots for Congress. She has been assigned a list of 20 constituencies to visit.

Apart from this, the focus of the party will be on women. Former Prime Minister Kamal Nath has already announced special measures for women that his government will implement if they come to power. This includes depositing Rs 1,500 into the women’s bank accounts. According to statistics, in 11 districts belonging to Chambal and Bundelkhand regions, women voters outnumber men. Interestingly, in last year’s panchayat polls, women came out to vote in droves, especially in areas like Shivpuri, Bhind, Morena and Shahdol, which are known for their patriarchal mentality.

Finally, following precedence, given the large number of first-time voters, Congress will focus on jobs and announce various measures to ensure jobs are created.

With this, the party hopes to win and set the tone for the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
