US stocks higher at close of business; The Dow Jones Industrial Average rises 1.00%


Investing.com – U.S. stocks closed higher on Friday as sector gains , and , led indices higher.
At the close on NYSE, the index was up 1.00%, while the index gained 1.30% and the index added 2.19%.
The session’s biggest gainers were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:), which rose 1.60 points or 5.84% to trade at 29.00 at close. amexpress Company (NYSE:) added 6.16 points or 4.08% to close at 157.24 and Salesforce Inc (NYSE:) rose 5.53 points or 2.63% to 215.44 in latest trading.
The biggest losers included Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:), which lost 1.10%, or 1.23 points, to trade at 111.07 at the end of trading. The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:) fell 0.79%, or 1.38 points, to close at 172.29 and Chevron Corp (NYSE:) lost 0.31% or 0.48 points to 154.08.
The best performers on the S&P 500 were Gap Inc (NYSE:) up 12.40% to 8.34, Broadcom Inc (NASDAQ:) up 11.52% to 812.73 and Arista Networks (NYSE:) which gained 9.06% to close at 170.34.
The worst performers were Ulta Beauty Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 13.37% to 420.27 at the end of the trade, Kroger Company (NYSE:) which lost 3.25% to settle at 47.31 and Eversource Energy ( NYSE:) which was down 3.06% at 68.69 at the close
The best on the NASDAQ Composite were Verastem Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 125.55% to 1.01, lifting oncology Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 66.78% to settle at 5.02 and Presto Automation Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 63.93% to close at 3.59.
The worst results were canaan inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 26.74% to 1.89 in recent trading, mCloud Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:) which lost 24.27% to settle at 0.54 and ROC Power Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:) which was down 22.73% at 8.16 at the close.
Stocks up outpaced those down in 2045 at 935 with 105 ending unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2,247 were up and 1,314 were down, while 185 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 6.22% at 17.95.
In commodities trading, Gold futures for June delivery rose 3.05, or 0.16%, to $1,946.75 a troy ounce. Crude oil for July delivery meanwhile rose 0.97 or 1.35% to hit $72.80 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.79 or 1.04% to trade at $77.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.01% at 1.07, while USD/JPY rose 0.38% to 140.59.
US dollar index futures were down 0.04% at 104.13.
