The 9 questions from Congress to Prime Minister Modi on the 9 years of his government

New Delhi: With Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing nine years in office, Congress asked him nine questions on Friday on issues including rising prices, unemployment and farmers’ income, and demanded an apology for “betrayal” during his term. mandate. The opposition party also said that the government should mark this day as ‘Maafi Diwas’.
Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi raised critical issues during the Bharat Jodo Yatra and the nine questions are based on that, party general secretary in charge of communications Jairam Ramesh told a news conference at the headquarters of the Committee of the All India Congress here.
Ramesh, who was flanked by party leaders Pawan Khera and Supriya Shrinate, also posted a ‘Nau saal, Nau sawaal’ leaflet and said Modi became prime minister on that day nine years ago and therefore the party wants ask nine questions of him.
“We want the prime minister to break his silence on these nine questions,” Ramesh said.
Posing the questions to the prime minister, he asked, “Why are inflation and unemployment soaring in India? Why have the rich become richer and the poor poorer? Why are public properties being sold to Prime Minister Modi’s friends, even as economic disparities are increasing?”
Ramesh also asked why the agreements made with farmers while repealing the three “black” agricultural laws have not been fulfilled and why the minimum support price has not been legally guaranteed. Why hasn’t farmer income doubled in the last nine years, he asked.
Accusing the government of indulging in corruption and cronyism, Ramesh asked why the PM is putting the hard-earned savings of people at LIC and SBI at risk to benefit his “friend” Adani.
“Why do you let the crooks get away? Why do you keep silent about the rampant corruption in the BJP-ruled states and why do you let the Indians suffer?” he asked.
On the issue of national security, Ramesh said that Congress wants to ask: “Why, even after your clean letter to China in 2020, do you continue to occupy Indian territory?”
He also asked why deliberate “hate politics” was being used for electoral gain and alleged that an atmosphere of fear was being fueled in society.
“Why are you silent about the atrocities against women, Dalits, SC, ST, OBC and minorities? Why are you ignoring the demand for a caste census?” Ramesh said in another pose.
He also questioned the government on democracy and federalism, alleging that it has “undermined” our constitutional values and democratic institutions over the last nine years.
Khera claimed that the promises made by the government over the past nine years were out of step with reality.
“So when we demand answers, don’t take us back 900 years. Everyone wants to know what you did in the last nine years… We urge you (Prime Minister) to apologize during the events that will take place in the next five days for treason in the last nine years,” he said.
Ramesh asked: “Why are you practicing revenge policies against opposition parties and leaders and why are you using the power of shameless money to destabilize popularly elected governments?”
It alleged that the government had “weakened” welfare schemes for the poor, needy and tribal by cutting their budgets and setting restrictive rules.
“Why, despite the tragic deaths of more than 40 lakh people due to COVID-19, has the Modi government refused to compensate their families? Why did you suddenly impose a lockdown that forced thousands of of workers to return home and not provide any support?” Ramesh asked.
