Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the eighth meeting of Niti Aayog’s governing council on Saturday on the theme ‘Viksit Bharat @2047: Role of Team India’ at the new Pragati Maidan Convention Centre, New Delhi.

As the Chairman of NITI Aayog, Prime Minister Modi will chair the meeting.

PM Modi will deliberate on issues related to health, skills development, women’s empowerment and infrastructure development, with the aim of making India a developed nation by 2047.

“Eight prominent topics will be discussed during the day-long meeting, including (i) Viksit Bharat @ 2047, (ii) Boosting MSMEs, (iii) Infrastructure and Investments, (iv) Minimizing Compliances, (v) Women’s empowerment, (vi) health and nutrition, (vii) skills development and (viii) Gati Shakti for area development and social infrastructure,” stated NITI Aayog.

“The Meeting will be attended by the Chief Ministers/Lieutenant Governors of all States and Union Territories, the Union Ministers as ex officio members and the Vice President and members of NITI Aayog,” he stated.

As a preparatory prelude to the 8th Meeting of the Governing Council, the second Conference of Heads of Secretaries was held in January 2023, at which these issues were extensively discussed.

“Extensive stakeholder consultations and brainstorming sessions with subject matter experts, academics and practitioners were held ahead of the Conference to gain comprehensive perspectives at the grassroots level,” he further said.

The Second Principal Secretaries Conference, attended by the Prime Minister, brought together selected Principal Secretaries from the Government of India and Principal Secretaries from all States/UTs who proactively engaged by sharing thematic best practices and policy insights, as per the notice.

As the world’s fifth largest economy and most populous nation, India is at a stage in its economic development trajectory where it can achieve accelerated growth over the next 25 years, according to the statement.

In this context, the 8th Governing Council Meeting provides an opportunity to create a roadmap for Viksit Bharat to 2047 where the Center and States can work together as Team India. This will play an important role in the international context as India’s socio-economic growth and transformation can have a positive and multiplier effect on the world at large, he said.

NITI Aayog further said, “This 8th Governing Council meeting is also taking place in the context of India’s G20 Presidency. The G20 India motto, ‘One Land, One Family, One Future’, conveys its values of civilization and its vision of the role of each country in creating the future of our planet”.

“The emerging world has immense hopes in India’s ability to provide value-based leadership and its ability to deliver development on a large scale. The Center and the States have played an important role in achieving this distinctive development trajectory” Aayog said.
The growth of India is closely related to the growth of the States. As the Prime Minister mentioned in his 76th Independence Day speech, ‘When our States grow, India grows.’

This will be the guiding spirit of India’s inclusive and sustainable vision for the next quarter century.

To achieve this vision, the eighth meeting of the Governing Council would provide a platform to strengthen cooperation between the center and the state and forge alliances to achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat @2047.
