PM Modi Chairs NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting | Indian News – India Times
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the eighth meeting of the governing council of the NITI Aayog at the new Pragati Maidan convention center.
Union ministers Amit Shah, Niramala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal and many chief ministers were among the key members who attended the meeting.
The council, the main body of NITI Aayog, includes all chief ministers, lieutenant governors of the Union Territories and various Union ministers. The prime minister is President by NITI Aayog.
However, some senior opposition ministers like Nitish Kumar, Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal were not present at the meeting.
Generally, the full council meeting is held every year and last year it was held under Modi’s presidency on August 7. The council meeting was not called in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
