Searches are being carried out by Income Tax officers at various facilities attached to Tamil Nadu Minister of Electricity, Excise and Prohibition V. Senthilbalaji in Karur and some other places on Friday May 26, 2023.

The searches began around 6:30 a.m. Friday. The house of V. Ashok, Mr. Senthilbalaji’s brother, at Ramakrishnapuram in Karur is among the premises being searched by IT officials. Searches are expected to continue through the day.
The searches come days after AIADMK and BJP filed separate petitions with Governor RN Ravi, alleging large-scale irregularities in the operation of Tasmac stores and the private bars attached to them in different locations across the state.
