Inauguration of the new Parliament building: Amid reports of protests near the new Parliament building due to be inaugurated on May 28 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Delhi police have increased security around the area.
The Delhi Police has deployed more than 70 police officers, including ACP rank officers, for the security and monitoring of the ceremony. The decision was made after anti-government and anti-PM slogans were placed on the outer walls of the new Parliament building.
Along with the deployment of the police, security cameras were also placed to monitor.
‘Traffic notice’
Special traffic arrangements have been established in the national capital. According to the issued traffic advisory, the New Delhi district will be treated as a controlled area. Only public transport vehicles, civil service aspirants, bona fide residents, tagged vehicles and emergency vehicles will be allowed to move in the New Delhi area, he said.
“The area bounded by Mother Teresa Ceresent Road, Talkatora Roundabout, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Gol Dak Khana Roundabout, Ashok Road, Patel Chowk Roundabout, Ashok Road, Windsor Place Roundabout, Janpath, MLNP Roundabout, Akbar Road, Gol Methi Roundabout, Akbar Road, GKP Roundabout, Teen Murti Marg, Teen Murti Roundabout and Mother Teresa Crescent Road will be treated as regulated areas,” the notice said.
