Ford Motor Company (NYSE:) has just announced that it has reached a major agreement with Tesla (NASDAQ:), which allows electric vehicles produced by Ford to be charged at Tesla Supercharger stations in the US and Canada.
Ford EV models equipped with the Combined Charging System (CCS) port, namely the F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit, will have access to Tesla’s V3 Superchargers, though the vehicles will require an adapter Ford added that starting in 2025, it will begin equipping its cars with Tesla’s NACS charging port, eliminating the need for an adapter to use Tesla-branded stations.
The agreement, which will take effect in spring 2024, will give buyers of Ford electric models access to more than 12,000 Tesla charging points, more than double the company’s current network of more than 10,000 fast chargers. Blue Oval Charge.

Ford, the great pioneer and global domestic car brand, has lagged behind when it comes to electric vehicles. Last quarter, the maker of the Ford F-150, the world’s best-selling gasoline-powered vehicle, sold a total of 10,866 EVs, a drop in the bucket compared to Tesla’s more than 422,000 vehicles.
Nonetheless, the company remains committed to foraying into the EV space and intends to invest “more than $50 billion in EVs globally through 2026 to develop innovative EVs.”
Ford shares are gaining around 1% in the hours after the announcement.
