‘Close to flight fare’: Man shocked by taxi price from Bengaluru airport to Electronic City

The prices surprised many on the Internet.

Bangalore is famous for its traffic and hour long traffic jams. People keep sharing about the nightmare of traffic and less availability of public transportation. For the same reason, many people take private taxis and rely on taxi aggregators such as Ola and Uber. Recently, a user who wanted to travel from the airport to Electronic City was surprised to notice the prices of Uber taxis.

The man took to the microblogging site and wrote: “Uber fare to Bangalore airport from E-CityThe cost of the taxi fare is dangerously close to what I paid for the plane ticket.” He also shared a screenshot of Uber’s prices. The price of Uber Premium for the distance of 52 km was Rs 2,584 while Uber XL was priced at Rs 4,051.

The prices surprised many on the Internet. The now-viral post has racked up more than 80,000 views and 740 likes.

“Rush hours matter,” said one user. However, the user stated that it was not rush hour pricing but rather six in the morning.

“This is crazy! I think AC buses work too and can be quite comfortable, I’ve taken one to Mysuru in the past,” another person commented.

“Another day I needed a taxi at 10:30 pm from hsr to ec and the lowest fare was 850 rupees. I called my father-in-law to pick me up,” one user shared.

One person also added: “Exactly. Not only the fare but also the travel time is mostly the same if you fly within the country.”

“First they made us addicted and now they have started looting us,” said one user.

“Peak Bangalore,” another person said.
